Hi.

I have a problem with the DRV10983 EVM.

I by mistake put it to 150ohms instead of 150m ohms in the motor settings tab for the software and it then crashed. It now say that it want to update the board but gets stuck.

What should I do?

It don't get stuck if I disconnect the USB2ANY and start in simulation mode.

Sebastian

DRV10983-Q1 IPD

Hi Team,

Q1- How accurate is the IPD? with which accuracy and precision are we able to detect the initial position of the motor?

Q2- Are we able to let the motor run until a certain position is reached?

Customer needs to know exactly the position of the motor and also they have to tell the motor to run until a certain exact position. Is this possible with DRV10983-Q1?

DRV8301 - SPI and high temperature question

Hi,

I have project need to work on 85degC. I have some question.

Recommended operating temp = -40~+125. But...

When Ambient temperature = 25degC : The waveform is good.

When Ambient temperature = 85degC : The SDI(IC SDO) is bad. It can't feedback any signal and can't start up.

If we are change chamber temperature =79 degC. It will restore.

If we are cut pin10(DRV8301). When 85degC. same result.

DRV10983 Speed Question

Hello,

I currently have the DRV10983EVM and am using it to evaluate a BLDC motor connected to an 8 blade fan.  the fan is used as an optical chopper and for the most part the DRV10983 works fine, my question was with regards to accurate control of RPM speed.  We use a photo-transistor to monitor the speed of the blade and I noticed using PWM control there's a minimum delta between my ability to control the speed of the motor, i.e. i have about a 4 hz step in blade speed and i'd like to reduce that down to at least 2 hz.  I was hoping to be able to write software to use a micro-controller to vary the Duty Cycle to achieve that resolution but i wanted to confirm that something like this was possible with DRV10983 or would something like the DRV8307 be more suitable for this application (i do have the option to switching to a motor with hall effect sensors).  Would the DRV10983 be able to respond to fast changes on its input speed pin?

Thank you for your time

DRV8307 To prevent hunting motor

Hi,

My cutomer is using DRV8307EVM with customer motor.
This motor is operated at EVM.
But motor is hunting, and speed can not be up even if PWM duty is up.
Please see the attached file.
This is waveform of U phase.

His motor characteristic and condition is below.
- Poles is 12 poles.
- Torque constant is 24 mN/m/A
- Motor indactance is 4 mH
- VM is 18V
- OC setting is default of EVM(5A).

What should we changing of DRV8307 setting to prevent hunting motor?

DRV110 The hold current is weak

Hi Team,

The customer is using DRV110 and the attachment is the schematic. And the customer is using the 8pin IC. He refer

Q: He tests the hold current is 50mA ,and Ipeak is 2A.  On page17 of tidu578.pdf, we can see the formula for Ihold. Ihold=2A*0.35=0.7A. So the customer confuses the test hold current is weaker than the calculated hold current . What is the reason? How to solve the issue?

DRV8850 Range

Hello

i'm cheking if i can use the DRV8850 instead of the DRV8837 (which i'm using now), because it has a build in current monitor, so i can remove my external current monitor.

In the datasheet it says: "The range of current that can be monitored is 500 mA to 5 A".

Does it mean that i can monitor only currents bigger than 500mA, or that the minimal configurable range for monitoring is 500mA?

I have a load that only consumes 20 to 30 mA, so can i monitor the current with the DRV8850 or not?

Best regards

Dorian

Sensorless brushless driver

Hello,

I am looking for a sensorless driver that can drive a 12v to 24v brushless motor to run a fan (can be with external fets, 3A max continues). issue is, we need it to be in SO - package kinds, with protections options (uv and over current protection and more) in minimum cost.

Appreciate if anyone have expirionce witrh this kind of driver ic and can advice for optional model/s list.

Thank you in Advance!

what would happen if i use spi of drv8301 (write registor) while giving PWM to the drv8301???

will the motor run or there is any system which disable the gate driver while using SPI??

Driver choice support

Dear all,

I am not an electronic and I have to chose the correct driver for my application, so I ask for your help.

I have to control a Moog proportional valve that has to be controlled with a current +/- 1 Amp. Like you see the current has to be positive and negative because the solenoid has to move the spool of the valve in both directions.

Moog supplies a driver for this valve ( http://www.moog.com/literature/ICD/g123-821electronics.pdf ), but they advice not to use it in automotive application like mine is.

My controller is a NI sbRio 9637 and it can generate the PWM signal at 24Hz as requested from the spec of the driver, but this signal is only 0-3.3V and max 3mA. Can you suggest a driver/amplifier for this application, please?

Thanks in advance.

F28075 ,DRV8842 Motor drive(PWM-ADC)

Hello ,

I am working on TMS320F28075 Microcontroller with DRV8842 Motor Driver IC.

In my application i will be getting an analog signal(voltage) which is given to an ADC(12bit) (ADCIN0 channel) of my controller.

Now i need to drive a DC motor Linearly according to the PWM duty cycle which i have generated(PWM of 50KHz). Max Period register value-65536.

At present i have captured the digital value in ADCResult Register and have put some compare values ranging from 0 to 4096 and according to those compare values i am varying the duty cycle(50%,75%,80%,100%).

I need the dc motor to rotate in a linear fashion from 0 to 100% duty cycle according to the input voltage(0v-3.3v).

How can i achieve this?

Sanath Rai

DRV8711 CTRL register glitch

Greatings! I`m using DRV8711 with Nema 17 stepper motors. After I set the values to all registers, I have a procedure which verifies the data. The problem is driver blocks after I tried to read CTRL register. It stops responding and working! Before I tried to read the CTRL register everthing seems fine!

I have another drivers which don`t do this glitch! Where is the problem?

Here are my values:

CTRL -> C21

TORQUE-> 166

TOFF->064

TBLANK->000

DECAY->580

DRIVE->5F4

STATUS->000

Thanks!

DRV8711 Raise current to 1A

$

Hi,

I'm using DRV8711, 1/64 micro step and I want to raise the current to 1A

here is the equation in the drv8711 manual,

I = (2.75V * TORQUE) / (256 * ISGAIN *RISENSE) = 1A

I tried several combination of isgain and torque:

isgain = 20, torque = 186 (decimal)

isgain = 10, torque = 93 (decimal)

isgain = 5, torque = 47 (decimal)

but the current is still less 0.1A

(I can see the current changes when I use 1/256)

Here're my settings for other registers:

Dtime: 850 ns

SMPLTH: 100us

TOFF: 0X28

TBLANK: 0X00

ABT: DISABLE

TDECAY: 0X14

DECMOD: 101

SDTHR: 0X3C

SDCNT: 00

VDIV:10

OCPTH: 00

OCPDEG:00

TDRIVEN: 11

TDRIVENP: 11

IDRIVEN: 00

IDRIVEP: 00

Also the sense resistance for Boost drv8711 is 0.1 ohms, right?

Since there are two 0.05 ohms resisters in series.

Thanks,

Esme

DRV8823 xOUT+/- outputs short-circuit

$

Hello,

I am dealing with an issue regarding DRV8823 DC motor driver and I would like to explain it in this forum in order to check if anyone has dealed with it before.

I have checked it in my design and also in the evaluation board and the consequences are the same:

1.- I apply 9V to "VM" without any DC motor connected
2.- Pull up "RESETn" pin
3.- Pull up "SLEEPn" pin
4.- Pull down "SLEEPn" pin
5.- Pull down "RESETn" pin
6.- Switch off VM

Then both FET connected to VM in the H-bridges start to be enabled and few minutes later  I get a "wonderful" short-circuit between H-bridge outputs that I would like to avoid. Impedance between xOUT1/2 is around few Ohms (3 Ohms) but several minutes or even hours later those FET turn off and I get an open between xOUT1//2 outputs (Mega Ohms).

I would like to get an open between H-bridge outputs as soon as I turn off VM power supply.

I have tried with a higher VM voltage but the problem is still there. The measured voltages at driver pins are the following ones:

VM = 9V
VCP = 16.8V
V_CP2 =12.7V
V_CP1 = 4.3V
V_ABVREF = V_CDVREF = 3.3V

>> Has anybody dealed with this problem before?

Any help will be great.

Ismael

Iam working on drv8301.I got in a problem that when i give the PWM input ,the gate output does not change(MOSFET did not turn ON).

GVDD=11.2V

AVDD=7.5V

DVDD=4.5V

my ground pad is soldered perfectly as SPI is working.I don't know why my AVDD and DVDD are higher then the expected value(6.3V and 3.3V).I have also checked my circuit.....all the connections are good.My circuit is same as given in the datasheet.One more thing i disabled the OC protection by SPI to make the testing easy.

please help me.

Hi,

 I wantd to produce a Speed controller for the T200 Thurster from Blue robootics. Its a BLDC motor with a rating of 20v at 25amps. Which IC from TI is suited for this??

Also is there anyway to change  speed in PWM or Serial Communcation(i2c, spi or UART) mode??
