Hello,
I am new BLDC, My customer have a robot that uses brushed motors, I designed the logic. He asked me to design a new board to control BLDC motors.
I read the theoretical formation on the BLDC was of operation and on the sensing techniques.
I have some specific question regarding the DRV8353. (by the way I don't mind that you would recommend other parts as well)
A little bit about the system.
The robot has two motors that can operates on voltage from 16V to 24V. The current for one of the motors is around 4A and for the other is between 10 A to 20A.
The robot works once per day for about 2 to 5 minutes. the small motor drive the robot to one side of a rail, stops and move back to the docking. the other motor only work in one direction. both have controlled start and stop operation and they don't start and stop in a bump.
Now for the questions:
1. can this part support power MOSFET in those currents? I saw in the datasheet the DRV8353 can drive up to 1A source and 2A sink, is that related to the current needed to drive the MOSFET? (I.E. the current at the gate?).
2. In 1x PWM Mode, I understand that the PWM in INHA is the way to control the speed, that is good for me as the design should be very simple as described above. My question is about the amplitude of the PWM, I saw that the device can be powered via VM pin with a minimum voltage of 9V but the VI pin max voltage is 5.5V and my logic is 3.3V logic so my PWM amplitude can be as high as 3.3V, should I connect it to FET that is powered from DVDD? If I misunderstood something please enlighten me.
3. In 1x PWM Mode, INHC and INLC states matter? from the table in page 31 it doesn't seem that they have any effect on the motor operation. Please help me understand if I am missing something
