Dear TI Team Member,
My name is Rick Casler and I am the VP of Engineering at Grabit Inc., a start-up in Silicon Valley. Grabit is developing robotic assembly systems. We are evaluating the DRV10983 BLDC Driver IC for use in a blower control application. To that end, we purchased and just received a DRV10983 EVM (EVM). I got it running this morning, out-of-the-box. The EVM circuit board drove a motor that came with the Evaluation Module.
This afternoon I connected the Grabit Blower to the EVM. I followed the tuning instructions in Sections 4.1-4.8 of the DRV10983 Tuning Guide Rev C. I set a speed of 100 and the blower did not spin as expected. I backtracked and reloaded the GUI and successfully drove the EVM motor to confirm that the EVM Board was still working. I set it up again to drive the blower and again, the blower did not spin.
The Blower is a three-phase motor with a resistance of about 80 milli-ohms and a voltage constant of 2.3 mV/Hz. Per the above, I followed all of the other configuration steps in the Tuning Guide but to no avail. The blower does not rotate, not even a little bit.
I need help at your earliest convenience. Please advise next steps.
