DRV8701: when Motor is braking , the voltage is fed back into the circuit.

I have designed a motor control circuit with DRV8701. Everything is working great but when the motor is braking like lowering the PWM speed from 255 to 55 using microcontroller ( 18f87k22),VM point of the circuit is increased to around 55V . in Normal working condition, VM voltage is 28V . This is above the maximum rating for the DRV8701 motor controller. Im using IRLZ44ZSPBF Mosfet and have followed datasheet to put necessary capacitors. What im asking is Is it okay to leave like this or can you provide a solution to get rid off this?
