Part Number:DRV8303

HELLO the problem is my DRV burned after a fews minutes.

The VM pin have 9 V (the minimum in data sheet is 8.5V ) this is because i need to communicate with them over SPI to read and write the register.
i check everything on my board and no have short circuit is a custom board.

I do this test when I do not have the DRV8308 chip soldered on the board my current in power suply  is 0.01A  or 0.00A
when i soldered the chip on board is ok with the power suply i put 3.3v on enable pin in DRV8308 and after maybe 5 or 6 minute they burn ...

the output from chip don't use and the Vreg i don't use, in this moment i want communicate over SPI without burned the chip.

I have the Vreg = 5V and Vint =1.79V before they burn.

is possible i wrote bad registor on chip?? like turn ON two output in same precise time and they burn?

DRV8301: Benefits of the different BLDC control schemes in controlSuite

$

Part Number:DRV8301

Hi

I am using a TMS320F28035 along with a DRV8301 to control a brushless DC motor

Presently I am using trapezoidal commutation using the PWM scheme in f2803xpwm_cntl_8301.h from the controlSuite.
- here at any given point during the rotation there is strobing on 4 gate pins of the motor controlling H-bridge FETs
- this makes it difficult to confirm via scope the drive on a given winding

In the scheme in f2803xbldcpwm_BLDC.h from the controlSuite the lowside FETs at any given point are held constant
- this would at first glance appear to be a simpler (and thus possibly better?) scheme
- it seems more intuitive to me, which means I am probably missing something

Is anyone able to explain the relative benefits of the two approaches?

All the best

DRV10970EVM: Geting higher current/torque

Part Number:DRV10970EVM

Hello,

I have an DRV109070EVM Evaluation Module here to drive an DF45M024053-A2 Brushless Motor from Nanotec.

The motors main datas are: rated valtage: 24V, rated current: 2,36A, phase to phase resistance: 0.8 ohms, torque constant: 0.0335 Nm/A.

I connected it like discriped in the user guide, with 15V supply voltage.

Internal voltage of the Evaluation Module just starts with lower volage (as descriped in another post) then the board works.

But it is not able to start the unloaded motor. The motor needs to be turned manually to get ist started. And when it is running the current is never more than 0.3A even when the motor is breaked manually the current goes down to 0.1A and therefore torque is minimal. According to the datasheet 1A should be possible but how can i reach that current under load?

Is it possible to get the start problems fixed and a higher torque?

Or can someone suggest a Tree-Phase Brushless DC Motor Driver which is able to generate high torque even at low speed.

Thank you for your answers!

Gabriel

DRV8803: connecting tho inputs and two outputs parallel

Part Number:DRV8803

Hi,

Would it be possible to connect two inputs like IN1 and IN3 in parallel and to the same with the outputs Out1 and Out3 to increase the current capacity?

I was thinking of connecting IN1-IN3 and Out1-Out3
and also connecting IN2-IN4 and Out2-Out4

For an application I would need 1[A], so I was hoping to solve this by connecting it in parallel.

DRV8702-Q1: Negative sense current

Part Number:DRV8702-Q1

Hi,

I have a DRV8702 driving a full H-bridge via independent PWM. I want to use the sense resistor as a means to detect a short circuit. However, as the H--bridge and the resistor are in parallel to the bulk capacitor, the current seen by the resistor can be negative also (my load is pretty inductive).

From the datasheet I'm not certain what's the behaviour of the driver in such case. What happens when Vsp is negative? The tripping circuit acts also? It trips when Vsp< -1 V?

Thanks,

Federico

DRV8876: IPROPI Tolerance, How to use Aerr

Part Number:DRV8876

Hi Team,

I am performing an analysis on the Vipropi output of the DRV8876. Aipropi is used to calculate the Vipropi value, but it only given as a typical value. I see that there is an Aerr specification, which provides a min/max value for Iout < 150mA, which is my use case, but I am not sure how to utilize this specification to calculate the min and max value my Vipropi can be. Would it be possible to provide an explanation of how to use Aerr in my min/max calculation of Vipropi?

Thank you!

Part Number:DRV10987

Dear, Sir.

My customer will start the design to apply DRV10987 for their system.

In advance, they would like to make sure following topics.

Please give your advice.

1. Full-speed voltage & Zero-speed Volatge.

It will be defined on the datasheet, 0.1V to 0.9* 3.3v.

I am not sure the real resolution of internal ADC, but I wonder the

lower reading values & higher reading values would be conveted to Full & Zero?

2. Resolution.

It will be defined, typ. 6.5mV.

I wonder the resolution will be reflected the error like INL, DNL?

If you know like ENOB, Please advice me.

Hi ,

We are using DRV8356 evaluation board proving the concept, find the waveform attached .

Channel 3 (blue) :- High-Side Mosfet Gate voltage (Q3 Gate)  with reference with power ground.

Channel 1 (yellow) :- Low-Side Mosfet Gate voltage (Q5 Gate)  with reference with power ground.

We observe the Step of 900ns  on Channel 3 high-side gate signal, and Low side gate signal is already ON state before high -side mosfet gate signal signal is low.

Please let us know the reason for this step, can this be eliminated by modifying PWM parameters in the code .

DRV8814: Bootstrap Cap for the high side FET drive voltage?

$

Part Number:DRV8814

Hello All,

From rev D onwards of the DRV8814 datasheet, it appears in the application diagram a 1Mohm resistor to be placed in parallel with the 100nF bootstrap capacitor for the high MOS drive voltage. (VCP PIN).

What is the reason for this change?

My customer is experiencing strange behaviors on his application. It seems that a DC motor connected to one of the two H-bridges occasionally does not start correctly. Perhaps these issues could be explained due to the absence of this resistance?

Please find attached rev c and rev  d of the ds for better comprehension.

DRV8873: Drive H-bridge output over SPI, PWM-like

$

Part Number:DRV8873

Hi all !

I'm currently designing a motor driver and I bought a DRV8873, SPI version, thinking I could write a value to some register and tell it to output a PWM wave with that value's duty cycle.

Upon testing it I realized I can only enable or disable IN1/IN2 bits, such as I would have if I had driven the equivalent pins at +VM/GND without PWM ; this gives me the possibility to drive the motor at full speed forward, reverse, brake or coast over SPI.

I would like to know if it is possible to drive a motor using a DRV8873 (SPI version) with a duty cycle without actually using the IN1/IN2 pins or sending a PWM to the driver.

If it is not, could you recommend an alternative ?

Many thanks in advance for your help !

DRV8881: Formula (1) for the chopping current

$
0

Part Number:DRV8881

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV8881E?

There is formula (1) for the chopping current on the datasheet P16.

At the our customer's circuit, they configured as follows;
-Vref=0.49V
-TRQ=00(100%)
-RISENSE=0.2ohm±1%

Actually(result), current limit was 250mA~310mA.ISENSE pin voltage was 0.05V~0.06V.
Using formula(1), calculation value is 370mA.
There is some difference between  calculation value and result data.

So, using Figure 9. xISEN Trip Voltage over VREF Input on the datasheet P9,
in case of VREF=0.49V, trip voltage is 0.05V.
It seems that the customer's result is correct in case of Figure 9.

We would like to confirm formula(1).

Is this formula(1) for current limit in case of Vref=3.3V only?
In case of Vref=0.49V,  formula(1) is not suitable, right?
And then, AV(gain amplifier) is not linearity, right?
As the background of this question, our customer would like to calculate limit current in case of VREF=0.5V.

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

DRV8323_MSP430F5529_Trapezoidal Sensorless_BLDC about Flashing.

Hi everyone.

My name is Mr.JUNG.

I’m using DRV8323RS EVM and MSP430 F5529 Launchpad,MSP-GangProgrammer.

MOTOR’ MODEL is 24vdc TELCO-intercon.com

After compiling drv8323 software in CCS 7.2 . I was able to run the motor without problems in the GUI.

The motor I used was a DELCO motor ,so I had not reason to change the soft ware’s parameter.

Created to “.hex file” and flashing it with msp-gang programmer.

It worked fantastic.

“PASS’!

It was a message of hope.

After a while I knew I would be away from heaven to hell.

I referenced the relevant document but the motor does not rotated.

A programmed launchpad can only be run as a GUI without CCS.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong!.

Please help to solve this issue.

There was a lot of time and effort to get to this point.

Eternal Friends of Ti.

cheers.

Is it possible to control BLDC motor if one of the hall sensor out

$

Hello,

Is it possible to control BLDC motor if one of the hall sensor out of three hall sensor is faulty and fault state that is either high or low is known in advanced. if yes then how? By measuring back emf it is possible but I don't have provision to measure back emf, so it is required to control  from two hall sensor feedback only.
