DRV8353R: DRV8353RS VCP power-on procedure

Part Number:DRV8353R

I made 5V(VDD5) and 3.3V(VDD_3V3) power by external power and didn't use internal buck from DRV8353RS.

I expected VCP turned on when ENABLE went to rise without spi communication.

However, VCP weren't enabled and in addition NFAULT was reserved high.

I don't understand the power on procedure of VCP.

DRV8873-Q1: PWM Control

Part Number:DRV8873-Q1

Hi,

My design uses the DRV8873-Q1 (SPI Interface).

I am using the PWM control method to control the speed of the motor.

By changing IN2 input to High or Low while IN1 input = Low

PWM control is performed. In this case, motor rotation stops when the duty of IN2 is about 50%.

I want to drive the motor with lower duty.

Ask for help.

DRV10963: FG_max

Part Number:DRV10963

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV10963?

There is the description fFG_max (Hz) = 1300Hz on the datasheet P19.
->Therefore, is fFG_max (Hz) = 1300Hz fixed value? Is it possible to configure  fFG_max (Hz) = 2000Hz?
We would like to know the content what fFG_max (Hz) depends on.

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

DRV8308EVM: closed loop at slow speed, running problem

Part Number:DRV8308EVM

Hi,

i want spin my motor with closed loop. Speed range is 100 - 1400 rpm.

Start always with load at 100rpm.

The low starting speed is my problem.

The lowest start speed with closed loop i can realize is ~500rpm.

The Motor does not react if i choose a speed below 500rpm

My Motor: (4 Poles-Motor)

I use your TI development tool run the motor

this  are the register-settings:

Speed change over a external CLK from function generator.

Is it possible to run such kind of motor at closed loop with 100rpm with the DRV8308 at all?

Can you check the Registers... maybe i missed something.

Best Regards

Michael M.

OEM motor driver

Hi,

We have successfully implemented a small motordriver capable of 100A 50V based on the low voltage EVM design. This is working all as expected and we are running short trial production batches of oit now.

However due to our own demand of a higher power higher voltage driver we have begun thinking about a driver that can meet our needs.

Basicly, our needs are mainly ultra high efficiency, prior to low cost, so we are investigating GaN for the switching part. The motors are also our own design and are generally lower inductance low resistance BLDC:s. The challenge is that we also need to keep the overall size down as much as possible. Our driver shall manage up to 650V and 100A. So here are the questions;

  1. Is it a correct assumtion that a higher switching frequency leads to a deman for lower bulk capacitance then a lower frequency?
  2. Is it possible to do a rough estimation of the bulk capacitance needed?
  3. We would like to use ceramnic kind of bulk capacitance with ultra low ESR. Any drawbacks with this, besides cost?

Best regards,

Mikael

DRV777: COM Voltage Spec Clarification

Part Number:DRV777

I am needing to drive a 12V unipolar stepper motor. The datahseet states that the COM voltage is recommended at max 16V, but Figure 4 on Page 7 illustrates an example of driving a unipolar stepper motor suggested a voltage no higher than 8V on the COM. Could I get some clarification on the ambiguity.

DRV8711: several bits of STATUS register set in low temperature occasionally

Part Number:DRV8711

Dear TI Experts,

My customer is testing DRV8711 in a outdoor controlling system. They tested 8pcs prototypes, everything works fine in room temperature.

However, when in low temperature(-20 degrees), there are several warning  register bit are set in 3 samples out of 8pcs  ( STDLAT /UVLO / BPDF bits of STATUS register ).

Gererally speaking, this will happen after 1~2 days continuous working, they can use host command to clear these bits and recover normal work, and after another 1~2 days, these bits will set again.

Could you kindly help to give some advices about this issue? Thanks a lot.

DRV8803: solenoid driver

Part Number:DRV8803

Hi team,

The customer is currently using UNL2003AN to drive three solenoids at simultaneous operation. However, they would like to drive more than three solenoids in future. In that case, do you have any recommended parts of your solenoid drivers compering to the transistor array device like UNL2003AN or TBD62064APG? Load voltage is 12V and target price is around $0.2.

DRV8832: Peak motor drive output current

Part Number:DRV8832

Hi,

Our customer are evaluating the DRV8832.
Please let me know if there are any problems with the circuit design.

Motor start-up current: 457mA typ
Over load (Lock) current: 1.3A
Rshunt: 0.15 Ω (200mV/0.15 = 1.33A)
VDD: 4.3 V
VSET: 3.12V

According to D/S, "Continuous motor drive output current" is 1A.
Should the current limit be lowered?

On the other hands,I understand that "Peak motor drive output current" is a specification of instantaneous current.
I think this design is not a problem if this specification is considered.

Please give me advice as one of the 20 prototype circuits may have destroyed the IC by EOS.
The cause is unknown.
After power-up, as soon as IN1 or IN2 is set to Hi, Fault is asserted.
The other 19 work fine.

Best regards,
Hiroshi

DRV8703-Q1: fault at -40degC

Part Number:DRV8703-Q1

Dear all,

one of my AA is using the DRV8703-Q1 to drive a motor. Everything works fine at room and hot temperature, but at -40degC the DRV8703-Q1 goes in VDS fault condition.

It could be related to the MOSFET, but even removing the VDS monitor feature the device acts as it is enabled and stops working.

Is this expected ?

Have you never seen similar behavior?

Any suggestion ?

regards,

Domenico

Hi,

I'm also working with a Maxon motor and I have a problem with current. One of the suggestions was to change the Risense. So I would like to know how can I change the Risense resistor from the EVM?.

Thanks.
