DRV8848: nFAULT pin is pulled low at startup and when running motor. It should be Open drain and high with my 10KOhm pull-up to 3.3V but it isn't

Part Number:DRV8848

Hi,

I need resolution on this as soon as possible. We are using the DRV8848 IC on one of our projects and it is showing a nFAULT when I powered the board without moving motor or anything else. I can move the motor (H-bridge) active but the Fault still persists. I have a pull-up externally on my board of 10KOhms to 3.3V and I should be seeing nFAULT to be high but it isn't. Is there a reason why this is being pulled low?

Thanks,

Marth

DRV8711: will the step indexer reset to home state at the moment exiting sleep mode?

Part Number:DRV8711

Hi,

my customer want very small current when the motor is not moving.

So I suggest them entering sleep mode when the motor doesn't need to move.

But I'm not sure if the step indexer will reset when exiting sleep mode.

And are there any way to reduce the current when the motor is not moving and keep the current large when we are indexing the stepper motor?

DRV8825: NFAULT pulled down and fail to run

Part Number:DRV8825

Hi  team,

My customer is using DRV8825 for step motor driving. Days ago they discovered 5 failure parts out of 1000. The failure is that the NFAULT node is pulled down after there comes STEP signal, and no output current, as shown in below Fig.1 and Fig.2.

Fig.1

Fig.2

They have conducted cross experiments: put a failure part into a new board, still failure; put a new part into the original board, failure disappears, which indicates that the failure goes with the device.

Below are the schematic, the data sheet of the motor they are using and the normal part test results.

Fig.3 schematic

Fig.4 motor spec

Fig.5 normal part

Fig.6 normal part

I wonder do this part have such problem before? Or what may be the cause for this problem?

Looking forward to your reply! Thanks!

DRV8870: DRV8870 - Vref input impedance and bias current

Part Number:DRV8870

Hello Team,

I would like to drive the Vref  pin of the DRV8870 with an MCU DAC.

To be sure that I do not need any buffer in between to provide the right current, I would like to know if you could share a typical Bias current for the input and the impedance offered by that pin.

From the block diagram it looks that Vref is connected to an operational amplifier (as comparator), so I would assume low bias current and high impedance.

Some typical value would help.

DRV8303EVM: Can not bloody install the Win SW

Part Number:DRV8303EVM

Hello!

I just bought the 8303EVM voard and I'm struggeling with getting the SW to install and work. The local installation works, but the path's are all wrong in all the .bat files. I just get a splash screen. The GUI Composer Runtime Installs and the application also installs, but to no gain.

Then I tried to run it online with the online interface and it complaines about the application is too old and I get three options of which none works.

For heavens sake, I've been using computers for 30 odd years and started with 6510 assembly programming in 1985, I should be able to get it to work.

Are there anyone that can support me with a good explanation on how to get this SW to actually work? Then I ould be extremely grateful...

P.S.

I've read every datasheet regarding this, every revision and nothing helps. I need hardcore support and I suspect there's and version issue which is not presented by an error message.

Hi,

I am looking for a design alternate for H-Bridge Driver IC VN771KPTR-E of ST Micro make. While exploring TI alternatives, I could come across DRV8873HPWPRQ1 as a replacement.

Is this device meant for only brushed DC motors?

Thanks and Regards,

Part Number:DRV8880

Hi team,

Customer used DRV8880 on their product and DRV8880 just support 2.5A max current . And now they would like to choose another device supporting 4A max current for driving higher power Stepper motor. Customer are willing to accept external MOS solution but need  simply control solution.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Part Number:DRV120

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering DRV120 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

Ihold is defined as 100mA(Rhold=50kohm), but it is only typical value.

Could you please let me know the deviation between min and max (Rhold=50kohm) .

I need to check whether it can be used for currently thinking solenoid.

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Part Number:DRV2667

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV2667 or other haptics devices for piezo?

Our customer would like to drive piezo with Vout=400Vpp @ Frequency=200Hz~300Hz.

Do you have the device which is suitable for it?
Or, according to external part like as trans, is it possible to configure it?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

Part Number:DRV8873-Q1

Hi Sir

DRV8873 issue: VM power supply=6V@9.5W,  IN1/2 duty cycle setting 50%.

VOUT1/2 path add LC filter, TEC_VOUT1=5.29V, TEC_VOUT2=2.88V, IPROP status output=2A, but fault occurred.

TEC(V(V)) : Vout1-Vout2= 2.41 V(V), to check TEC current about 1.5-2.2A, as attached file .calculator TEC power loss around 3.62-5.3W.

but VM power is 9.5W, IC isn't hot, May we know how to calculater power loss? (we main concern is if TEC consume is 5W, then it is mean IC will having 4W power loss,is it normal in this kind application?)

Could someone help me and give me some examples of those PCB design. if it includes the original files, it would be better.

Thanks very much. I will be really appreciated for that.

Part Number:DRV10970EVM

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV10970EVM?

There is the description "Add three external pulls resistors for hall input across three jumpers J5, J7, and J8" on the EVM's document.
What does it mean? Are these resistors VINT-U_HN, VI NT-V_HN and VINT-W_HN?
And, how much are these suitable for?1kohm?

DRV8353: Measuring speed and revolutions

$

Part Number:DRV8353

Hi,

I am designing a board to control a BLDC motor.

The motor needs to rotate at a certain constant speed and slow down until halting from a certain point in its track.

The point is determined by external sensors and the MCU will change it's PWM accordingly to slow down the motor.

For simplicity, I would like to use 1 PWM mode. In that mode the hall effect sensors are connected to the DRV.

My questions are:

Is there way to extract that information from the DRV? (The revolutions and/or speed)?

If not, can I tap the Hall effect sensors? (connect them to the MCU in parallel to the DRV)

I can use either version if the DRV5353 if it matters.

Thanks,

Tomer

DRV8303: Closed loop control problems in DRV8308 GUI

Part Number:DRV8303

Hi all!

I'm experiencing problems with the closed loop control in the GUI for DRV8303. The open loop control works flawlessly but in the "Clock Frequency Mode" tab I can't get a single revolution out of the motor.

Both FAULTn and LOCKn are red in the "Clock Frequency Mode", but green in "PWM Modes".

Has anybody some idea on what the problem is? I've followed the simple instructions in the datasheet for the 8303EVM.

Thanks in advance,

DRV8711: Current regulation

Part Number:DRV8711

Hi, team,

Could you please give me your advice how to set current regulation value?

I use Full-scale current(IFS) formula x 71% (home state). But the measurement current is larger than calculation. It's depend on VM.
And when I change the motor, measurement current is increased.

Is my calculation correct? If it is incorrect, could you please give me advice how to calculate current regulation through VM=12 to 35V and dependency of Coil register? IFS formula doesn't have VM value and Coil register....

Here is test condition and result

Part Number:DRV8860

Write an Arduino program that uses a single Texas Instruments DRV8860 to turn two unipolar stepper motors in one direction (clockwise or counter clockwise, your choice) simultaneously. Utilize one of the hardware timers of the Arduino (using a timer library is okay) to step the motors at a frequency of 400Hz.
