MCT8316ZTEVM: nFAULT enabled when duty cycle is less than 10% in MCT8316ZTEVM

Part Number: MCT8316ZTEVM

We have purchased MCT8316ZTEVM evaluation module vide our Order No. T03830710 to run a motor.

Whenever we set low duty cycles on eval kit using provided potentiometer, nFAULT LED starts glowing, and motor stops running. It takes a power cycle to bring the board back. To counter this, we have put a 5 kOhms resistor as a pullup to nFAULT pin externally, and now the board need not be power cycled every time we give a low duty cycle, the nFAULT LED still goes up, but now it goes  down whenever we increase duty ratio to roughly beyond 10 %.

How to mitigate this problem, so that any arbitrarily low duty ratio can be provided to MCT8316ZTEVM?
