DRV8317: Sensored FOC control, DRV8316C or DRV8317?

Hi all,

For the sensored FOC control of a 12V 2A BLDC motor with Hall sensors, I am currently evaluating the DRV8313 chip. The chip is controlled by an STM32 MCU that drives the PWM signals and interprets the Hall sensors. Unfortunately, the DRV8313 lacks current sensing capabilities and 6x PWM, something highly desirable. Looking through TI's current portfolio, the DRV8316C and DRV8317 seem to meet these requirements.

However, other than a difference in operating voltage and peak current, I cannot find much difference between the two chips. I see that the 8316C is labeled "BLDC Drivers," while the 8317 is labeled "Integrated control BLDC drivers." Can anyone explain the differences between the two in the case of our application?
