DRV8871: Can it drive a latching solenoid?

Hi,

We've selected the DRV8871 chip to drive the 12V 4W latching solenoid: DSML-0630-12C.

However, we noticed in this topic here on TI forum that the DRV8871 is listed as not supporting driving solenoids for some unknown reason.

The latching solenoid requires changing polarities to get engaged/disengaged, so I'm not sure what's the possible issues with using the DRV8871? Did the TI team check with the document authors to confirm the reason?
