DRV8212P: Bulk capacitor selection

The datasheet of DRV8212 suggests using bulk capacitor. How can we arrive at a value for this capacitor? and is there any reason for why only a 0.1uF ceramic cap is added in parallel?

I have seen a few designs that suggest using a number of capacitors as bulk capacitors. Do I need to have provision for this in my design? 

Note: The motor I will be using has a current rating of 220mA, and stall current is 1A.
