DRV8711: A-channel overcurrent error (AOCP) occurs when supplying 36 V and burns the MOS tube

Here's an issue from the customer may need your help:

Referenced to DRV8711EVM schematic design, supply voltage 36V, drive current 2.8A, 57-76 stepper motor. AOCP error (channel-A overcurrent) and MOS tube burned out when external pulse input stopped.

The 24-V supply and 2.8-A drive current only occasionally report errors, and there is no MOS tube burn-out problem.

What could be the possible cause of this and how to fix it?
