DRV8711: Driving Brushed DC Motors

I have an existing drive circuit that uses the DRV8711 to drive a stepper motor. I'd like to have that circuit do double-duty and also be able to run a DC brushed motor. The voltages and currents are similar, so I think we're ok electrically. The data sheet also states that the driver can be used for two brushed motors, so it seems to be intended for this purpose. It seems that the only mode setting needed is to turn PWMMODE off and use the xIN1 and xIN2 inputs to control the bridges. Are there other considerations or gotchas to watch beyond this?
