Part Number:DRV8840
Hello TI support team,
we are using DRV8840 as TEC drivers. Sporadically one of the drivers does not startup correctly
It seems that sometimes about 100 µs after ramping up VM to 24V there occurs a short (unintended) activation of the outputs. A high current is flowing and the device shuts down and latches the nFAULT Pin.
The error is not resettable using the nRESET pin, only a power-down of VM does reset the error. This only happens very sporadic.
My questions are:
- Does nRESET have to be low during startup?
- Are voltages on logic inputs allowed while VM is not yet powered up?
I cannot find the information in the datasheet. The device seems to tolerate the 3,3V logic voltages on the pins but maybe this sometimes results in misbehaviour or wrong internal startup.
Best regards,
Martin
