Use DRV8835 for brushless motor control Y connected A, B, C windings?

I want to drive a brushless DC motor that has Y connected windings, i.e. three phase, call the pins A, B, and C, each pin to a coil with the other legs of each coil all tied together inside the motor.  A typical design uses three half-bridges.  Is there any reason I couldn't use three of the DRV8835's half-bridges for this purpose?

I hesitate to ask, since it seems if that were possible it would be mentioned in the data sheet (except maybe there are specialized IC's for that purpose?)
