I am using two small stepper motors in an application that will be used in an indoor, controlled temperature environment. I would like to use the DRV8885 with on chip current sensing. The motor I am using is rated at 12V/.4A, 30 Ω, 58mH, per phase. Is it necessary to use freewheeling diodes on the motor outputs if I use a mixed decay (eg. 30% Fast)? I noticed that they are not used on the DRV8885 eval board MDBU009A_MSP430F2617.SchDoc.
