DRV8312: Maximum allowed current for DRV8312

Hi TI team

We are using the DRV8312 and are a bit confused about the maximum allowed peak current as the datasheet is together with the DRV8332. Can I set the OC_ADJUST resistor to 7.4A output current for short peak loads? Is the part still in the safe operating area (as long the overtemperature protection is not active)?
