Part Number:DRV8301
Hello Team,
My customer has an issue with the DRV8301. Please find the answers for the general questions.
1) What value bulk capacitor is used for PVDD and the motor?
2x 680µF/63V Elko
2) Is the PowerPad soldered to GND?
Yes.
3) What are the voltage ratings of the other capacitors connected to the DRV8301? Are they all ceramic?
See picture below my answers.
C305, C306, C307, C310, C313, C315, C316, C319, C320, C322, C323, C325 = 50V ceramic.
C311, C314, C326, C327 = 25V ceramic.
C312 = 63V Elko.
Look at picture for values of the ceramics.
We also did most of the tests with additional capacitor (1µF/16V ceramic) at the BST_A/B/C (C316, C320, C322) because of better performance in previous test with old Mosfets.
So in total C316/C320/C322 is 100nF(50V) + 1µF(16V). Could that be a problem for the charge pump?
We also did one test with an bigger capacitor for GVDD 10µF/25V + 100nF/63V. But we didn’t combine this test with the additional capacitor at BST Pins.
In each configuration we had an damage of the charge pump.
4) What is the PVDD voltage?
Its between 24V to 48V. We did most of the tests with round about 36V or higher. When I think about the failures it happens always when the voltage was between 36V and 48V. One time we changed the voltage while driving from 36V to 48V and on the way the failure occurred.
5) What is the current through the motor?
The current through the motor was different every time when the failure occurred. Between 5A to 20A.
Thank you. Looking forward for your reply.
