BOOSTXL-DRV8301: 2nd quadrant operation from single quadrant power supply

Hi,

I would like to use the F28069M kit in combination with the BoostXL-DRV8301 for 2nd quadrant operation (in generator mode). The motor of this kit will be coupled to another motor operating in normal quadrant 1 operation. Do you know if this is possible to do with a standard single quadrant power supply? Is it necessary to have a strategy where a resistive load bank is connected in parallel with the power supply during braking/generating in order to do this safely(to prevent sinking of current by the power supply)?
