MCT8316A: Meaning of STL_EN, STL_STATUS, APP_RESET, and applicable STATE values

Hi TI team,

We're using the MCT8316A motor driver and found the following bits listed in the datasheet, but their functions aren’t clearly explained. Could you please describe what each of these bits represents and when they are updated, or provide some documentation? 

1. STL_EN – What does this bit control? What does “STL” stand for? Self Test?

2. STL_STATUS – What does this bit mean, and when does it update?

3. STL_FAULT – What does this indicate, and under what conditions is it set or cleared?

4. APP_RESET – What exactly does “APP” refer to, and what conditions cause this bit to change? What is the recommended action if this indicates a failure?

5. STATE – Could you please list which states are applicable to the MCT8316A? Also, could you provide more details on the meanings of SYSTEM_IDLE, SYSTEM_INIT, MOTOR_IDLE, and MOTOR_DIRECTION?
