DRV8245-Q1: LOAD CURRENT profile

The DRV8245-Q1 has a maximum current of 32A according to the datasheet.

Is it possible to estimate whether a device is capable of driving a given motor? Can the average current of a DC motor be used?

According to Table 7.5.14 Transient Thermal Impedance & Current Capability, the maximum current with PWM would be only 4.8A.
