MCF8316AEVM: MOTOR_IDLE. Cannot start drive.

Tool/software:

I am using a MCF8316AEVM to drive a small BLDC motor. I have followed the instructions through multiple times. I am not able to progress the Algorithm State beyond MOTOR_IDLE.
I switched [SPEED_MODE] to Analog Mode and increased the potentiometer with no effect. 
I switched to Register Override mode, switched the I2C [OVERRIDE] switch and gave it 50% command percentage with no effect. 
I am not seeing any faults or any response. 
D7 led is constant green. 
D5 led is constant green. 
D1 led is constant green. 
I am able to read from the registers and have confirmed that my USB connectivity is good. 

What else can I try?
