Tool/software:
I am currently working on a project that involves using the DRV8874 motor driver to control a DC motor. However, I am experiencing an issue where the motor does not start properly.
Upon investigation, I found that the motor draws a peak current of over 10A at startup, which I believe exceeds the DRV8874’s current limit protection and causes the driver to shut down or prevent operation.
Could you kindly advise on possible solutions or workarounds for this issue? Specifically, I would like to know:
Is there a way to adjust or delay the current limiting response to accommodate the motor’s startup peak?
Would adding an external current limiting circuit or modifying the VPROPI settings help in this case?
Do you recommend a different driver IC that can handle higher peak currents while still providing similar control features as the DRV8874?
Your guidance would be greatly appreciated, as this issue is critical to our application.
Thank you for your time and support.
