DRV8411A: Issue with DRV8411A Current Regulation - Incorrect ITRIP Calculation

Part Number: DRV8411A

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support Team,

I am currently working with the DRV8411A motor driver and encountering an issue with the current regulation system. Specifically, when trying to configure the ITRIP threshold to 0.200A, I am not getting the expected results.

According to the datasheet, the ITRIP calculation formula is:

ITRIP=VVREFRIPROPI×AIPROPIITRIP = \frac{VVREF}{RIPROPI \times AIPROPI}

Where:

  • VVREF = Reference voltage (set to 1.32V as per calculation)

  • RIPROPI = 33,000 Ω

  • AIPROPI = 200 µA/A = 0.0002 A/A

Using this formula, the expected ITRIP value is 0.200A, but in actual testing, the current regulation does not behave as expected.

I would appreciate guidance on:

  1. Verifying the calculation and expected hardware behavior

  2. Any additional setup or components required to ensure proper current regulation

  3. Troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue

Looking forward to your expert insights on resolving this problem.
