Tool/software:
Hello,
Can the DRV8251A support driving huge capacitive loads with the below requirement? Concern is on the current regulation/limitation.
It has a current regulating feature that could be used for limiting the inrush current into the capacitive load. The current regulation has a blanking time (1.4us) and deglitch time (0.7us) before it is active. While the OCP has a deglitch time of 1.5us only.
Will a heavy capacitive load cause the device to turn off its output due to OCP or will the current regulation kick in before that?
Specs
current limiting
thermal protection
driving capacitive and inductive loads
maximum working voltage is 33V (must tolerate up to 50V)
working current 3A (3A maximum, continuous will be less than 3A)
PWM control up to 2kHz
Regards,
Viktor
