Part Number: MCT8315Z
Tool/software:
The MCT8315Z data sheet table 8-5 has columns for I_BK "max output from buck" and BUCK_CL "buck current limit" but it doesn't explain the difference between them. The I_BK_CL stated for BUCK_CL is 3x higher than I_BK.
Based on the other information in the data sheet, I assume that I_BK is the more relevant number as that determines the load that SW_BK can supply before the output voltage V_BK begins to decay. Unfortunately, I_BK tops out at 200 mA and my application needs about twice that much current so I guess I'm out of luck and I need a separate buck converter anyhow. Figure 7-5 only shows V_BK up to 200 mA load so I can't see what happens in the regime approaching I_BK_CL.
So how is I_BK_CL meant to be interpreted?
