Part Number: DRV8242-Q1
Tool/software:
I am currently working on report errors and protection mechanisms of the DRV8242-Q1 driver, and I am facing an issue with the driver's OLA (Open Load detection) mechanism.
After setting the EN_OLA bit in the CONFIG1 register and ensuring the driver's state is active, I conducted the following tests:
- Without a load: I alternately switched the high-side FET on and the low-side FET off for every 10 seconds.
- With a load: I performed the same alternation and then removed the load from the two OUTx pins after several FET switching cycles.
=> In both cases, the driver did not report an OLA fault in either the FAULT_SUMMARY register or the STATUS1 register.
Information about the load used:
- Operating voltage: 9–16V
- Rated current: 0.15A
- Peak current: 2A
Information about the setup:
- Input voltage to the driver: 12V
- The load is connected to the two OUTx pins of the driver.
Registers used:
- COMMAND Register: Set bits
CLR_FLT,SPI_IN - CONFIG1 Register: Set bits
