DRV8908-Q1: Active free-wheeling/Passive free-wheeling merits and demerits

Hello experts.

Customer would like to know merits/demerits of active free-wheeling and passive free-wheeling.

As far as I know, the merit for active free-wheeling is to reduce diode loss in recirculation. By active free-wheeling, the IC temperature decresease and can mitigate over temperature possibility.

Is there any merits/demerits/concerns for active and passive free-wheeling?

I do not know demerits of active free-wheelng but are there any concerns?
