MCF8316A: What do I need to do to brake the engine and hold the position as quickly as possible?

Hi expert.
I use MCF8316A motor driver combined with MCU and analog hall sensor to control the position of the motor. My application requires the driver to be able to brake and hold the position of the motor as fast as possible. So is MCF8316A motor driver capable of doing it? And how should I configure the driver modes.
